No, I Can't Just Click That Link

There is no Target here. No Amazon, well there is The Amazon but it's the one with millions of yet to be discovered species, not millions of discounted products quickly delivered to your doorstep. So, right from the get go my approach to decorating and organizing my new class cannot be that of the millions of teachers who flood Pinterest and YouTube with classroom set up ideas.  I cannot just click the link below to get the must have rolling morning cart that will be the lifesaver I never knew I needed. I cannot just run down the street to the Dollar Tree and stock up on amazing bins and decor for my class. Nor can I even count on the lamination and books we are waiting on to be released from customs before the start of the year. What I can depend on is a God who knows my needs and is faithful to meet my needs. A God who placed me here for such a time as this who is bigger than all my worries and who has it all figured out should I just remember that He is God and I am NOT. ...

Those Who Fail to Plan...

According to Webster's Dictionary,  the Definition of  prepare is as follows. 1 a :  to make ready beforehand for some purpose, use, or activity prepare  food for dinner b :  to put in a proper state of mind is  prepared  to listen 2 :  to work out the details of  :  plan in advance preparing  a campaign strategy 3 a :  to put together  :  COMPOUND prepare  a prescription b :  to put into written form prepare  a report As a teacher I am quickly discovering that being prepared is of the upmost importance. Because and I quote, "Those who fail to plan, plan to fail." So, with all this in mind I am so thankful for the gift of time that I have been given between the end of one job and the beginning of the other. Not time to sit around twiddling my thumbs but time to prepare for the start of the school year. Truth be told I was given a stack of curriculum and the school calendar a few ...

Dreams do Come True

Maybe that dream that I had as a child to be a teacher really has come true. Sure, I am not teaching kindergarten, but I am loving teaching 2nd grade. My class is full of 33 great kids. My guess is that if you met them you would love them too, but maybe not as much as I do. Like any teacher I have kids who are more challenging and kids who you almost forget are there because they are so well behaved and quiet, but I lucked out with another class of really great kids who have so much to offer. That is why saying goodbye to my class is going to be so very hard. Wait, what?! Yep, we are midway through the school year and I have made the very hard decision to say farewell to Cambridge and hello to a new school. This is not at all what I expected this year to look like. I was not planning on leaving, in fact I was really starting to feel at home, but as is often the case God's plans are not always my plans. That being said, His plans are always for the best. You see I believe strong...

Getting to this point

When I was a little girl I thought I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. Or a missionary to Africa.  Those dreams changed over the years and for better or worse faded. When it came time to pick a major I first chose Psychology thinking that I wanted to do play therapy with kids, but I quickly determined that I did not have the emotional strength required for such a career. Some how I ended up studying Communications and Media Broadcasting and graduated with a BA and dreams of directing live T.V. or maybe even being the next Ellen or Oprah. Yeah, none of those things transpired. Mostly because I never really pursued it post graduation. What did I do? Oh, so many various jobs that I have lost track of them all but here are a few that stand out; Children's Ministries Director, Youth Pastor (oh wait I am a woman so...)Director, Missionary to Rome, English Teacher, Direct Sales and Sales, Secretary, Housekeeping, and seriously a bunch more jobs. I have loved them and hated them I hav...
